Many of you may have been following or have heard the rumblings about the allegations against a Hollywood powerhouse, Harvey Weinstein. If you haven’t, without going into the intricate details of the offenses or acts that have been alleged to have occurred, know that it’s pretty disgusting and sickening.
Earlier this week, as I was in my normal rushed routine of getting dressed for work, I overheard the breaking news that the accused, Mr. Weinstein, had broken his silence. He finally spoke out on what had been headlining the news and social media for several days. Whisking through the room, but trying to catch at least a snippet of the story, my eyes fixated on the TV screen. He appeared to be entering a vehicle, while looking quite embarrassed, uttering a few words. The ones that figuratively waved through my bedroom walls and quickly bulls-eyed my spirit were the ones spoken about us all making mistakes, his plans to get help, and his hopes for a second chance….
Hmmm….I thought, aren’t we so blessed to be loved so unconditionally by an incredibly forgiving God who so willingly offers up second chances? In our raggedness, sometimes consistent raggedness, He still finds within His heart to say something like, “You know what? Here you are again, but fret not. Because you’ve asked for forgiveness and because I love you so much, you, My flawed child, get a second chance to get it right.” How amazing is that?
If you’ve lived long enough, you know that chances expand beyond two! We’ve been granted and have experienced the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and even what seems like a million chances! Thank God for loving us selflessly, and for the Saving Grace of Second Chances. We ALL have been benefactors, therefore, we should take a moment to reflect, and let Him know that we appreciate and are humbly grateful that He truly is a ‘God of a Second Chance.’ As we reflect, and also look ahead, we should remember that “A second chance doesn’t mean anything if you haven’t learned from your mistake.” ~ Book of Quote
