I woke this morning with so much gratitude and thanks for my last day in the office, reflecting on 27 years of service and the many beautiful relationships and life-long friendships that have formed during this time. As I thank God for the opportunity and the blessing of retirement, I’m also thinking of those who woke on 9/11/2001 with no thought of it being their last day at work, much less their last day of life on earth….
I’m remembering the shock, fear, sorrow and utter sadness that still resides near in thought and in our hearts on this particular day. I’m praying for the families and friends of the victims who will never get to experience what I’m feeling today, September 11, 2018.
In further contrast, as we’ve been preparing for Hurricane Florence, some have been trying to prepare for the emotional trauma associated with this month/day–the words, “9/11”, has taken on a new meaning since then, no doubt. No prep work could have prepared any of us for this!
May peace, strength, love, the sweet memories of those lost, and their faith shadow them today and always.
Peace and Blessings,
Lisa B
