MLK Day 2021 ~ The Conversations

Dr. King had so many conversations during his lifetime. In 2021, we still aren’t having enough of the right conversations– the authentic ones that lead to freedom, like this one…. “People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.” ~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.~

I’m so grateful that Dr. King lived the life of a “bridge builder.” I’m grateful that we are given a national day of celebration, experiencing many levels of repair, although much work is left undone. I thank God that he chose to communicate the freedoms of non-discriminatory practices and racial equality. I’m also thankful that he chose truth, as he also said, “A lie cannot live.”

How does the legacy continue? How do we start? Don’t choose silence—Be a voice. Have ‘real’ conversations. Although potentially hurtful, they may be revealing and healing. Be ‘present’ in bridging the gap of racial divides plaguing our nation, our families, friendships, and working environments. Search for truth. The truth (my truth) is–I believe that racist idealogies, racial prejudices and privilege are the root causes of what we are currently experiencing (as well as historically) in this country–politically, and in the streets of America! Know that, “Before the truth can set you free, you need to recognize which lie is holding you hostage.”~@holisticyunus~ Choose FREEDOM! Choose LOVE!

Happy MLK Day 2021!

Peace & Blessings,

Lisa B
