It's Just Cheese...

I had been waiting all morning to make my self-titled best egg white omelet. There was leftover ground country sausage, spinach, and turkey pepperoni from yesterday's homemade personal pizzas. That's not a normal Sunday meal for us, however, the Eagles' pitiful loss supplied a heap of nervous energy...ugggh! Putting away leftovers, a scrumptious Monday late-morning omelet was on the brain!

Happily, I start to spray the small frying pan with avocado/olive oil, then turn on the stove. Moving quickly to the refrigerator, the ingredients are pulled out, one by one. But wait, there's no cheese!! Who wants an omelet without cheese? Certainly not me! Frustrated and trying to figure out how we had let this happen, it became a "decision to decide...😉" whether to cancel today's omelet experience or just roll with it. Well, I thought about how good that country sausage is, and it needed to be cooked; I needed it in my life today. So, this omelet (probably for the first time ever) is going to be prepared and eaten missing the ingredient I always thought it wouldn't be palatable without---cheese. With much hesitation, I made that omelet and to my surprise, it wasn't bad at all. Clearly, my palette missed the cheese, but each fork-full got better and better. As I devoured my brunch, this nugget dropped, "It's just cheese..."

The moral of the story or better yet, my morning experience lesson, is that there are so many things that we feel we have to have. There are so many things that we can't even imagine living without. Sometimes, there are some people that we've decided that we can't exist in this life without. The aforementioned certainly serves to be true because we love so deeply and like what we like and how we like it. Nevertheless, some of it is "just cheese." Things may be better with it, but guess what? It might not be a necessity. We may find that doing without is just as good, palatable, and enough! It's not settling--- It's determining what's truly necessary and important. We have to stop getting lost in the sauce or the cheese. Pray for direction and discernment in deciding if "it's just cheese" and if we should move on and forward without it/them. Everything and everyone is not meant to be on the journey or a part of your day...

That was one tasty omelet! 😘

Yes!! There are things... we can do without. Leaves room for us to try new things, new tastes, new opportunities. Doesn't have to be the same ole' same ole'.
