Piano Keys ~ Existing While Black

Intro: Many of you know that I remain a backstory person—I thrive on knowing the “why” of issues, people, etc. During this current political season, I found myself scrolling through comments of live feeds or posts regarding the 2020 presidential election. Reading hundreds of views, and vile comments, it was validated that this election, honestly, had so many stereotypical racial undertones—more so than folk truly being concerned about political platforms/issues. After pondering, and basically being so “over” how this society is still so heavily and sadly plagued by systemic racism, these thoughts surfaced—–
While we’re being…
Counted out, God is still counting us in
Pushed down, God is lifting us up
Silenced, God is raising our voices
Told No, God is saying, Yes
Devalued, God is showing our worth
Prejudged based on our race, God is judging our heart
Looked at differently in so many ways, God is seeing us the same in all ways
Called derogatory and demeaning names, God is calling us His children
Covertly demonized, discounted, deceived, dehumanized, and discriminated against, God is dealing with our plight divinely
Blatantly dealt the above, God is intentionally dishing out Grace and Favor
Publicly quiet, God is hearing our prayers
Blasted, God says we’re still blessed…
Revered equally–with love, dignity, and respect (both in front of and behind closed doors), God knows and ensures that we know and see the same…In His time.

While we’re continuously having to fight for equality and respect, God reminds us of His armour in Ephesians 6:11-18:
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We pray that people begin to search their souls, and maybe, just maybe, their blurred vision of who we are is improved. The spirit ‘eye’ exam checks for inclusive love vs privileged ‘like’ perpetrated as love, or the lack of either…😔

Today, and so many days/years prior, my heart is warmer and my soul glows brighter because of genuine connections—-those who love the ‘whole’ me. They don’t love me a little less or a little different because I’m black— We are connected purely out of Godly LOVE! We share our hearts; we share our fears; we share our childhood memories; we share our grief; we share our pain; we share our views; we share music; we share sermons; we inspire each other to be better–to be great—-All while knowing and embracing that I am black, and proud to be! Period! For that, I’m grateful!

There are black and white piano keys on any piano keyboard. You can play them individually by color, but it takes all of them, collectively, to make beautiful music…ijs

Peace & Blessings,
Lisa B
