Zipping Club Chat

Ever think about how folk can whisper in their chat circles for weeks, months, maybe even years, wondering why things may be different, without ever having the thought to reflect on their contributing actions? Your name, the situation that got you all ‘there’ and the remnants thereof, are sometimes played out like a repeated tune on a jukebox, at a lounge affectionately and figuratively known as Club Chat.  This spot has a huge catalog of other music options, but there is an eerie level of comfort and pleasure when your name is chosen for musical ears. Wow. So sad, but too often so true…

Club Chat allows BYOB (Bring Your Own Baggage or Bring Your Own Breakthrough). There are a few things that can be bagged that might offer up an event of fairness and resolve for a breakthrough–the first thing that comes to mind is a mirror!!  Self-reflection is a powerful thing! The other item is a well-marinated appetizer of words that are very tasty, but hard to chew on if you’re savoring the flavor while looking in that infamous mirror.  These words are composed in a collection of sentences that can be considered one of life’s ‘absolutes’ to always remember.  It goes a little something this… Talk is cheap, oftentimes unfair, and can create a barrier to trust again.  Trust is a valuable attribute, and important to everyone! We all want it; we all expect it; we all appreciate it. Problem is,  trust is easily broken, but not easily restored. You can Trust and believe that!

We should stop expending so much energy chatting about folk, especially when it has taken up way too much residence in our sphere.  If it’s that important,  make a decision to avoid the convo at Club Chat, and decide, in an act of inner peace, to have ‘the conversation.’ Trust the process in the revelation of truth, not idol, unsubstantiated, unclarified, unsettling chatter! Whew—tough, but doable and necessary.

As creatures of emotion, we are prone to instinctively act or defend our honor, when an unauthorized play of our life or current situation is spinning on the “ones and twos.” In living this life, and making an effort to transform my sometimes hot-headedness and stubborn nature, the scriptures below give me peace, when Club Chat convo is exposed.  They bring on a slow inhale, a releasing exhale, and the reminder that I can’t change folk (that’s up to them and God), however, I can decide how to respond.  Of late, the response has been simply a smile, thanking God for much-needed growth!

 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil. ~ Psalm 37:8

 No weapon forged against you will prevail,
 and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. ~ Isaiah 54:17

Peace and Blessings,
